Waldo’s Chicken & Beer and Big Bad Breakfast to Debut in Shelbyville and Middletown, KY

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 22, 2024) – – – Founder & CEO of Endeavor Restaurant Group, Steve Ritchie, is excited to announce the opening of two new restaurant locations this Fall: Waldo’s Chicken & Beer in Shelbyville, KY, and Big Bad Breakfast in Middletown, KY.

Waldo’s Chicken & Beer in Shelbyville

Opening at 1709 Midland Trail, the former site of Captain D’s, will be the second Waldo’s Chicken & Beer location in Kentucky. Founded by Mark Waldo in Nashville in 2019, Waldo’s has quickly become renowned for its scratch-made southern fried and slow-roasted chicken served four ways: on the bone, on a bun, in a bowl, or in a basket. All sides, including macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and white beans, are made in-house, along with eight original sauces and signature cheese biscuits. The fried chicken at Waldo’s is prepared by soaking in an overnight pickle brine, then hand-breading each piece in buttermilk and coated in seasoned breading. The rotisserie chicken is marinated in a brown sugar brine overnight, roasted with butter, garlic, and parsley, and served cut and pulled to order. The Shelbyville location will uphold the tradition of serving exceptional food and service in a vibrant setting, perfect for friends and family gatherings.

Steve Ritchie comments, “We are thrilled to bring Waldo’s Chicken & Beer to Shelbyville. The Louisville community’s warm reception to our Norton Commons location has been phenomenal, and we can’t wait to share our love for southern-style chicken and craft beers to the vibrant and growing community in Shelbyville.”

Mark Waldo, Founder & CEO of Waldo’s Chicken & Beer, adds “Steve and Melissa’s extensive restaurant experience and unwavering dedication to exceptional operations aligns perfectly with our own mission of serving great food with southern hospitality. I am thrilled to continue growing the brand together and eagerly anticipate becoming a beloved fixture in the Shelbyville community.”

The 2,000 square-foot fast casual restaurant will feature a full bar, indoor seating, drive-thru, curbside pickup, and an outdoor patio. Guests can enjoy an array of local and regional beers on tap, an extensive cocktail menu, and a variety of delicious scratch-made offerings. Waldo’s in Shelbyville will open daily from 11am to 10pm and will be hiring soon for all positions. For more information, visit WaldosChicken.com.

Big Bad Breakfast in Middletown

Taking over the former Zeggz location at 11615 Shelbyville Rd, Big Bad Breakfast will be opening its third Kentucky location. Founded by James Beard award-winning chef John Currence, Big Bad Breakfast offers a fresh take on the most important meal of the day. The restaurant is famous for its inventive breakfast and brunch dishes, featuring local

ingredients and house-made meats. This 5000 square-foot location will provide a cozy and welcoming environment with both indoor and outdoor seating options, including a patio. The restaurant will be open from 7am to 230pm daily. Hiring will be underway soon for all positions; interested applicants can apply at BigBadBreakfast.com.

“We are delighted to expand Big Bad Breakfast into Middletown,” said Steve Ritchie. “After seeing the tremendous success of our first two Louisville locations, we are eager to expand Chef Currence’s distinctive breakfast experience to yet another outstanding community in Louisville.”

John Currence, Founder & CEO of Big Bad Breakfast, adds, “I could not be more excited to open another location in Kentucky. The community here has been incredibly supportive, and I look forward to bringing our unique breakfast offerings to Middletown. Working with Steve and Melissa has been an absolute pleasure, and their team’s dedication to quality and community aligns perfectly with our values at Big Bad Breakfast.”

Big Bad Breakfast was founded in 2008 by Chef John Currence in Oxford, Miss., and has since expanded to multiple locations across the South, earning acclaim for its creative menu and welcoming atmosphere. Diners can expect signature items like scratch-made black pepper buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy; house-cured Tabasco brown sugar bacon; shrimp and oyster po’ boys; huevos rancheros with scratch-made grits; brandy-spiked, deep-fried French toast; and avocado toast for leaner eaters, along with an array of traditional brunch cocktails with a twist.
