Steve and Melissa Ritchie bring southern breakfast brand to iconic former Lynn’s Paradise Café in The Highlands

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 26, 2021) – – – Steve Ritchie, founder & CEO of Endeavor Restaurant Group, signed a partnership agreement with James Beard Award-winning chef John Currence to open a Big Bad Breakfast (BBB) in the former location of Lynn’s Paradise Café building, 984 Barrett Ave, late fall. This distinctive breakfast concept, which started in Oxford, Miss., has eight locations in five southern states including Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This is the second investment of recently established Endeavor Restaurant Group, who acquired all five LouVino Restaurant and Wine Bar locations in Dec. 2020.

Endeavor Restaurant Group began the search for a distinctive breakfast concept immediately following the LouVino acquisition,” said Ritchie. “We wanted to find a concept that delivered a memorable breakfast experience with amazing food in a quirky and comfortable atmosphere. After meeting John and tasting his scratch made culinary creations, we knew we found the next project for Endeavor. We are super excited to be able to open the first location at the former site of the iconic Lynn’s Paradise Café. As lifelong Louisvillians, we are aiming to deliver something that compliments the character of the community we know and love.

Big Bad Breakfast was founded in 2008 by Chef John Currence. John has received numerous accolades over the years for his culinary talents. He is also an award-winning author of three published cookbooks.

I could not be more excited to be opening in Louisville. I have developed so many wonderful friendships here during my career, so to have the excuse to be in Kentucky more frequently, could not be more satisfying” said Currence. “Getting to know Steve and Melissa has been a gift. I have no doubt that their wisdom and experience will make our first Louisville location one of the best in our group. Their team is smart, savvy and rooted in the community of Louisville. I sincerely hope we can bring back some of the spirit and quirkiness that once was the building we will occupy. Our intention is to pay a bit of an homage to the life it brought to the neighborhood and recreate a vibrant center of community and gathering that once lived within those walls.

Diners can expect signature items like scratch made black pepper buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy; house-cured Tabasco brown sugar bacon; shrimp and oyster po boys; huevos rancheros with scratch made grits; brandy spiked, deep fried French toast or avocado toast for the leaner eaters, along with an array of traditional brunch cocktails with a twist.

Big Bad Breakfast will open for breakfast and lunch daily from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For more information, visit BigBadBreakfast.com.
